Berjou is a French municipality with 461 inhabitants (at January 1, 2017) in the department of Orne in the region of Normandy .

geography

Berjou is 13 kilometers northeast of Flers . The municipality is bounded by the Noireau . The village is close to the industrial centers of the region.

history

During the Second World War, the local resistance supported the Allies and thus ensured that they could win the fight against the German occupiers more quickly. By the time the 214th British Division entered the village, half of it was destroyed. The general of the unit put their badge on the French flag and swore to let it fly over Berlin. He kept the promise and today the place has this newly found treasure.

Economy and Infrastructure

In Berjou there are a few craft workshops, including a bricklayer's. There is also a dairy that makes cheese from raw milk. Tourism also plays a role.
