history

Until the church is planted

Between 863 and 892 under Breitenbrunn was Embricho , 863-891 seventh bishop of the diocese of Regensburg as "Preitprunnin" for the first time, probably in a property list of the manorial system , called Breiteneck.

In the 12th century, the Breiteneck rule northwest of Kelheim was subordinate to the von Laaber lords , and later to the von Hirschberg , von Pappenheim , von Wildenstein and von Gumppenberg families . In the 13th century, the people of Breitenegg had a gallows. Market rights were obtained in the second half of the 14th century. Shortly before 1600 part of the manor came to the Principality of Pfalz-Neuburg . In 1611 Bavaria bought the share of Pfalz-Neuburg.

In 1624, Elector Maximilian of Bavaria gave his general Johann t'Serclaes von Tilly, who was elevated to imperial count in 1623, the rule of Breitenegg, who also received sovereignty in 1631 and the imperial confirmation of imperial immediacy in 1635. In April 1632 the Swedes committed atrocities in Breitenbrunn. From 1649 until the peasants' liberation in 1848 , the lordship of Breitenegg (Breiteneck) belonged to the Bavarian Empire. With the extinction of the male line of the Counts of Tilly, their fiefs fell in Bavaria in 1724 , the three separate parts of Freystadt an der Schwarzach ; Castle and market Holnstein and the market town Hohenfels and the two own estates, two separate parts with Castle and Market Breitenbrunn and Castle Helfenberg 1732 through a Countess of Montfort , a sister of the Count of Tilly, to the Barons of Gumppenberg. The imperial county of Breitenegg , whose seat was Breitenbrunn, was sold by the barons of Gumppenberg in 1792 to the Bavarian elector Karl Theodor . Breitenbrunn remained a market with its own magistrate rights.

In 1601 one of the then three dance houses of the diocese was located in Breitenbrunn. A bath room is mentioned in 1618. The Rosary Brotherhood was founded in 1625. The new cemetery church was built in 1737/38. In 1723 there were seven breweries, one of which was allowed to brew wheat beer. The Sebasti Brotherhood was founded in 1774. In 1801 the French were billeted. In 1818 today's political community was established.
