The 26th British Academy Film Awards ceremony took place in 1973 in London . The British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA) film awards were given in 17 categories; there was also an honorary award. The awards were given to films made in 1972 .

Award winners and nominations

With eleven nominations, Bob Fosses Cabaret was considered a big favorite in the run-up to the award ceremony and was ultimately the winner of the evening with seven BAFTAs won. One of the losers was Stanley Kubrick's A Clockwork Orange , which received seven nominations.
