Pakula's Die Unbrechlichen together with the nine-time nominated film Bugsy Malone were favorites in the run-up to the award ceremony. While one flew over the cuckoo's nest six BAFTAs and thus received most of the prizes of the evening, Die Unbrechlichen went empty-handed and became the big loser of the award.
