British Academy Film Awards 1999
The 52nd British Academy Film Awards ceremony took place on April 11, 1999 at the Business Design Center in London . The film awards of the British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA) were awarded in 21 categories, plus three categories of honorary awards. For the first time, a prize was awarded in the Best Young Talent category. The event was hosted by the British presenter Jonathan Ross .

With ten or more nominations, Shakespeare in Love (15 nominations), Elizabeth (12) and Saving Private Ryan (10) were favorites in advance. Shakespeare in Love and Elizabeth received the most awards of the evening with four prizes each. The losers of the evening were Little Voice and Hilary & Jackie , who received six and five nominations respectively.
