The 48th British Academy Film Awards ceremony took place on April 21, 1995. The film prizes of the British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA) were awarded in 20 categories, plus four special or honorary award categories. The venue was the Odeon Leicester Square in London , and the evening was hosted by British presenter and comedian Billy Connolly .

With eleven nominations, Mike Newell's Four Weddings and One Death leading up to the event was a big favorite. In the end, he won the most prizes of the evening with four BAFTAs. None of the other films could win more than two awards; One of the losers was Forrest Gump , who received only one award in a sub-category out of eight nominations.
