British Academy Film Awards 1993
The 46th British Academy Film Awards ceremony took place on April 21, 1993. The film prizes of the British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA) were awarded in 20 categories, plus three special or honorary award categories. For the first time since 1968 a prize was awarded in the category Best British Film . The event was hosted by British actor and comedian Griff Rhys Jones .

In the run-up to the event, there were reunions in Howards End and Strictly Ballroom - those who dance against all the rules with eleven and nine nominations respectively as favorites, but no film was able to prevail as the big winner of the evening. No film won more than two awards.
