Steve Maslow

Steve Maslow (born October 17, 1944 in Los Angeles ) is an American sound engineer who has been awarded the Oscar for best sound three times and has been nominated four more times.

Life

Steve Maslow worked on his first films in 1978 when he was working on the sound mixing for Martin Scorsese's film The Band and the road movie Convoy and was hired as sound mixer for the film The Children of Sanchez . To date, more than 200 other films have followed in which he worked as a sound engineer.

In 1979 he was responsible for the sound mixing of the first part of the Star Trek film series, Star Trek: The Film , together with Gregg Landaker , and in the following year they took over this function for the film Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back . The collaboration with Landaker continued for numerous other films, including the 1981 Indiana Jones film Raiders of the Lost Ark and the 1994 thriller Speed . The two sound engineers received the Oscar in the Best Sound category for all three films . He was also nominated for an Oscar in this category for three other films he worked on with Landaker: Waterworld (1996), Twister (1997) and U-571 (2001).

Most recently, Maslow worked in the post-production of the remake of The Great Gatsby , which was directed by Baz Luhrmann , and, together with Gregg Landaker, took over the sound mixing for the horror thriller The Conjuring , which started in Germany in August 2013 .
