Cantoin ( Occitan : Cantoenh ) is a place and a municipality in the south of France with 305 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) in the Aveyron department in the Occitania region . The place belongs to the former county of Carladès in the historical province of Rouergue . Cantoin is part of the arrondissement of Rodez and the canton of Aubrac et Carladez (until 2015: canton of Sainte-Geneviève-sur-Argence ). The inhabitants are called Cantoinais .

location

Cantoin is about 57 kilometers north-northeast of Rodez . The Truyère delimits the municipality to the north. Cantoin is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Paulhenc in the north, Lieutadès in the east, Argences en Aubrac in the south and west and Thérondels in the north-west.
