Le Monastère ( Occitan : Lo Monestire ) is a French commune with 2,283 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) in the Occitanie region . It belongs to the Aveyron department , the Rodez arrondissement and the Rodez-2 canton (until 2015: Rodez-Est canton ). The inhabitants are called Monastériens .

La Monastère is a banlieue in the south of Rodez on the Aveyron River , in which here the Briane River . La Monastère is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Rodez in the north, Sainte-Radegonde in the east, Flavin in the south and Olemps in the west.
