The county is located slightly northwest of the geographic center of Wisconsin and has an area of 3,157 square kilometers, of which 9 square kilometers are water. history
Clark County was formed in 1853 from parts of Crawford County. It was named after George Rogers Clark , a general in the American Revolutionary War, or after AW Clark , the founder of Clark's Mill in northwestern Wisconsin.
