The Fiat Duna was a car model from the Italian car manufacturer Fiat . It was produced from the beginning of 1987 to the end of 2000.
The Duna was based on the Uno's extended platform . Outwardly, it differed from the Uno by its notchback, sheet metal beads on the sides (like the Fiorino ), the higher bonnet that reached over the fenders, under which the spare wheel had space and the chrome trim. The rear suspension on trapezoidal wishbones and shock absorber struts instead of the twist beam axle of the Uno goes back to the Fiat 128 . The Duna was produced in Italy, Argentina (until 2000) and in Brazil (until 1995) as Fiat Premio . As a Premio, it was also available as a two-door sedan.
A major factor in the success of the Duna was its large trunk for this vehicle class. In Italy, the commercial Duna station wagon was also sold with three doors as a Fiat Penny , and on the British market as a Fiat Citivan. The rear side windows had been replaced by sheet metal on this model; the continuous cargo area was also separated from the driver's area by a protective grille. It was available with a 1.1-liter gasoline engine with 43 kW (58 hp) or a 1.7-liter diesel engine with 44 kW (60 hp).
The station wagon version was initially called Duna Weekend , but was renamed Fiat Elba after the sedan was discontinued at the end of 1991 . The Elba was later offered in Italy under the brand name Innocenti . After Germany the Duna did not.
