The 2017/18 season was the 14th season of the Regionalliga as the third highest division in women's football . 64 teams play in five groups for promotion to the 2nd Bundesliga or against relegation to the association / upper league .
Due to the conversion of the 2nd Bundesliga to a relay, there are no direct promoters this season. The five champions and a second-placed team contest a promotion round in two groups of four with the second division seventh. The group winners then move up.
North
Bramfelder SV was relegated from the 2nd Bundesliga North to the Regionalliga. Defending champion Werder Bremen II waived promotion to the 2nd Bundesliga. The second team of SV Meppen (Lower Saxony) and SV Henstedt-Ulzburg (Schleswig-Holstein) rose from the subordinate leagues . The TSV Havelse pulled his women's team back for financial reasons, the players alternated closed for TSV Limmer . The vacated space was filled with another newcomer, Walddörfer SV .

No club from Schleswig-Holstein applied for promotion to the regional league. The game will be played on May 27 and June 3, 2018. Schwachhausen prevailed and rose.

The two season winners of the Oberliga Niedersachsen determine a promoted player to the Regionalliga Nord in a playoff. The game will be played on June 2, 2018 at 3:00 p.m. in neutral Barsinghausen . Büppel prevailed.

Northeast
1. FC Union Berlin rose from the 2. Bundesliga North to the regional league. The FSV Babelsberg 74 and 1. FFV Erfurt not applied for the Regional League season 2017/18. The Bischofswerdaer FV , RB Leipzig , the Rostocker FC and the SFC Stern 1900 rose from the subordinate leagues . Blau-Weiß Beelitz did not apply for a license for the 2018/19 season and is therefore determined to be relegated.

Union Berlin won the championship and caught up with Magdeburg FFC on the last day of the match. Since both failed in the promotion round and with Jena another relegated came into the class, Neubrandenburg also had to relegate third from bottom.

SV Holzbach (Rhineland) and DJK Saarwellingen (Saarland) rose from the association leagues . The champions of the Association League Southwest, FC Marnheim , did not want to be promoted for "internal reasons", whereas the second-placed team, DSG Breitenthal , was not entitled to promotion. Thus, the 1. FFC Montabaur remained in the league despite being 11th in the preseason.
