final
August 8, 2017, 9:35 p.m. local time (10:35 p.m. CEST )
Not there was the Kenyan Olympic champion in 2012 / 2016 and world champion of 2011 / 2015 David Rudisha , the same also holds the world record . The world champion were among the favorites in the first place in 2013 Mohammed Aman of Ethiopia, the Olympic silver medalist from 2012 Nijel Amos from Botswana, the Pole Adam Kszczot as Vice World Champion in 2015 and European champion of 2014 / 2016 and the Kenyans Kipyegon bed, which here in the semifinals had presented strongly in London .
In the final, Canadian Brandon McBride set a high starting pace. The 400 meter split was 50.78 seconds. On the back straight of the final lap, Frenchman Pierre-Ambroise Bosse attacked and took the lead. In the target curve, he pulled away from his opponents a little. But the second-placed Bett and Amos in third were still promising in the race. Aman and Kszczot followed on the next ranks with some distance. With great stamina, Pierre-Ambroise Bosse brought his lead to the finish and won the world title. On the home straight, two runners in particular sped past several opponents: Adam Kszczot won the silver medal and the Briton Kyle Langford came very close to Kipyegon Bett, who was able to save the bronze medal with a lead of four hundredths of a second over the Briton. Behind Langford, Nijel Amos was fifth, Mohammed Aman was sixth, ahead of Brazilian Thiago André and Brandon McBride, who was initially in the lead.
