Engelhartstetten is a market town with 2085 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2020) in the Gänserndorf district in Lower Austria .

Engelhartstetten is located in the Weinviertel in Lower Austria in the southeast corner of Marchfeld and on the border with the Czech Republic . The municipality borders in the east on the March (Morova), which forms the border to two districts of Bratislava ( Devínska Nová Ves and Devín ), and in the south on the Danube , which forms the border with the Bruck an der Leitha district. The area of ​​the market town covers 65.66 square kilometers. 12.04 percent of the area is forested.

In 1985 the Lower Austrian provincial government issued the current coat of arms: a split shield, three golden ears of wheat growing out of the base of the shield in front, two red crossbars in silver on both sides. As the oldest proven owner of Engelhartstetten, the family coat of arms of the Lords of Pranckh , once the owners of Schloss Hof , Markthof and Niederweiden, can still be found in the municipal coat of arms . In addition, the agricultural economy, which has been flourishing since the municipality was founded, is to be symbolized by adding the three ears of wheat.

According to the results of the 2001 census , there were 1807 inhabitants. In 1991 the market town had 1668 inhabitants, in 1981 1635 and in 1971 1809 inhabitants.
