Mausegatt miners' settlement
The mining settlement Mausegatt / Kreftenscheer in the Holthausen district in Mülheim an der Ruhr was built as the Wiesche colony for the workers of the Wiesche colliery . Today the 106 houses that have been preserved are listed and are part of the Route of Industrial Culture .
In 1899 the foundation stone was laid by the Mülheim Mining Association . Workers from the eastern Prussian provinces and Poland who worked in the Wiesche colliery were settled here. It was only a 10-minute walk from the settlement to the Kaue . In 1905 and 1911 the colony was further expanded. In 1914 the two streets "Mausegatt" and "Kreftenscheer" were given their names, derived from old seam names.
