The 2014/15 season was the 59th season of the Ekstraliga , the highest Polish ice hockey division , and the 80th edition of the Polish ice hockey championship. GKS Tychy became champions for the second time in its club history , while GKS Katowice had to relegate back to the second class I league after two years of first class .

mode

In the main round, each of the ten teams played a total of 36 games. The best six teams in the main round played in a double round (ten games for each team) the order for the first six places in the playoffs. The teams in places seven to ten competed against each other four times (twelve games for each team) and played two other playoff participants and the relegated player in the I league . The main round results were adopted in each case. In the playoffs , the quarter-finals were played in the " Best of Five " mode , the semi-finals and the final in the "Best of Seven" mode. The two losers in the semi-finals played third place in the “Best of Three” mode. Each team received three points for a win after regular time, two points for a win after overtime or shootout , one point for a defeat after overtime or shootout and zero points for a defeat after regular time.

particularities

For the first time since the 2010/11 season , the Ekstraliga was fully occupied again with ten teams. With promoted Orlik Opole , a team from the Opole Voivodeship played in the top division for the first time since 2004 . Naprzód Janów returned to the Ekstraliga three years after relegation in 2011.
