Ticket for the Mexican super classic between America and Guadalajara, which was held a total of six times in the 2006/07 season.

The 2006/07 season began on August 5, 2006 with a total of six matches. Among them was a 3-0 win for the Tiburones Rojos against the Gallos Blancos , which made Veracruz the first league leader of the season. The last three matches of the league round were played on April 29, 2007 and all ended with a home win without conceding a goal. The last game of the season was the second final game for the Clausura between Pachuca and America (1-1), which was played on May 27, 2007.

The highest-scoring game took place on September 23, 2006 (10th matchday of Apertura) between Morelia and Cruz Azul (4: 4). Seven goals had already been scored in the first half and ensured a 4-3 break for the home team.

The highest home and away win for Apertura and Clausura was achieved in the following games:

  • Toluca - Tigres 7-0 on September 16, 2006 (9th matchday of Apertura)
  • Morelia 5-0 Veracruz on February 14, 2007 (5th matchday of Clausura)
  • Tecos UAG - Atlas 1: 6 on August 13, 2006 (2nd matchday of Apertura)
  • Veracruz 0-5 Pachuca on March 31, 2007 (13th matchday of Clausura)

The 2006 Apertura champion was Club Deportivo Guadalajara, which finished fourth in the overall table for the season. The 2007 Clausura champion was CF Pachuca, the team with the highest points of the entire season.

There were a total of 306 point games, 27 games in the Liguilla , the Spanish name for the play-offs , and eight matches in the context of the Repechaje , so a total of 341 games for the two championships.

Most of the games (46) were played by the Chivas Guadalajara team, which won the Apertura in 2006 and advanced to the semifinals in the Clausura 2007. In addition to the 34 point games, she completed two games in the Repechaje (Apertura) and a total of ten games in the Liguilla (six in the Apertura and four in the Clausura).

Another interesting aspect of the 2006/07 season is the fact that there was a total of six super-classic between America and Chivas Guadalajara. In addition to the league round, which the two rivals each ended with a home win (Guadalajara won 2-0, America 1-0), they met in the semi-finals both for the Apertura (where Guadalajara won 2-0 and 0-0 enforced) as well as the Clausura (in which América had the upper hand with two 1-0 successes).

The Dorados de Sinaloa team, relegated in the previous year , was replaced by the promoted Querétaro FC, who was immediately relegated and replaced by the promoted Puebla FC in the 2007/08 season .

The point game round

In the regular season (which did not take into account the Repechaje and the Liguilla ), 1-0 was the most common result. It occurred a total of 59 times and was both the most common home (38 times) and the most common away win result (21 times).

The most common 1-0 win was San Luis (eight times in total, six of them on their own), while the Tecos never won a single game with this result. Santos Laguna lost most of the time with 0: 1 (a total of seven times, five of them away), while Pachuca did not lose a single game with 0: 1.

The second most common result was 2-1, which was scored 48 times and divided into 36 home and 12 away wins. They are followed by the 41 times scored 1: 1 and the 40 times scored 2: 0, which is divided into 29 home and 11 away wins.

In the total of 306 point games, 777 goals were scored, which corresponds to an average of 2.54. 480 goals (average 1.57) were scored by the home teams and 297 goals (average 0.97) by the away teams.

    The Liguillas

In the Liguillas (the Spanish name for the play-offs ) of Apertura and Clausura, there were a total of 14 encounters, each played in home and away games. It came to a total of 27 instead of 28 games because the semi-final second leg of the Clausura between Cruz Azul and Pachuca was no longer played because of the disqualification of Cruz Azul. The total of 27 games in the Liguilla were absolutely even between the home and away teams (8 wins each of the home and away teams with 11 draws and a goal difference of 35:34 from the home teams' point of view). A total of 69 goals were scored, which corresponds to an average of 2.56 goals (and from the home team's point of view is 1.30 to 1.26).

The most frequent results of the Liguillas were 1: 0 and 1: 1, which were each achieved six times. The 1-0 was divided into three home and three away wins.

The highest victory in the Liguillas was achieved by Club América against Atlas Guadalajara (4: 1 in the quarter-finals of Clausura 2007), the two highest-scoring games ended 3: 3 and came about between the same opponents: in the quarter-finals of Apertura 2006 in the Aztec Stadium and in the quarter-finals of Clausura 2007 at the Estadio Jalisco. In both comparisons, America was able to prevail (in the Apertura with 3: 1 and 3: 3, in the Clausura with 3: 3 and 4: 1). There were also two meetings between America and its arch-rival Chivas, the other team from Guadalajara. It took place in the semifinals, with Guadalajara (2-0 and 0-0) in the Apertura and America (with two 1-0 successes) in the Clausura.

Of the 18 teams in the league round, eleven teams qualified for the Liguillas. Six teams were able to qualify once for the Liguilla and five teams qualified twice. The most successful teams were the Club Deportivo Guadalajara and the Club de Fútbol Pachuca. Both won a title and failed in the other tournament in the semi-finals. Club America was similarly successful, advancing to the finals in the Clausura and already reaching the semi-finals in the Apertura.

The last held in the 2003/04 season Repechaje had been abolished with the reduction of the league to 18 teams in the 2004/05 season because the mode was changed to the extent that three groups of six teams were played, each of which was the two best teams as well as the two best third-placed teams qualified for the Liguilla. In the 2006/07 season, all three third-placed and fourth-placed with the highest points qualified for the intermediate qualifying round and the winners for the quarter-finals of the Liguilla. What is interesting here is that the two qualifiers faced each other in the final!
