Sete Quedas , officially Município de Sete Quedas , is a city founded in 1980 in the Brazilian state of Mato Grosso do Sul in the Central-West region . It is 470 km from the capital Campo Grande and border town with Paraguay . The population was estimated on July 1, 2018 at 10,812 inhabitants, called Setequedenses (Portuguese setequedenses ), who live in an area of around 826 km². The population density is around 12 people per km². The urban area covers only 2.5 km².

The landscape and climate are those of the Brazilian Cerrado . The climate is subtropical, according to the Köppen and Geiger climate classification Cfa . The height above sea level is 407 meters. The place is under the influence of the northern Rio-de-La-Plata basin. The biome is that of the Mata Atlântica .
Surrounding places are Tacuru , Paranhos , Japorã and Corpus Christi in Paraguay.
history
The place is the result of a colonization project from 1973 by the Instituto Nacional de Colonização e Reforma Agrária (INCRA). It was first elevated to a district, the Distrito de Sete Quedas , by Law No. 3.765 of June 30, 1976 , and was located in Mato Grosso . The Município was created by law No. 73 of May 13, 1980 and was now part of the new state of Mato Grosso do Sul, but only after the necessary elections for the city council and mayor, the place was inaugurated and independent on June 22, 1981.
City administration
Executive: In the local elections in 2016 , Francisco Piroli was appointed city prefect (mayor) for the period from 2017 to 2020. He is a member of the Partido da Social Democracia Brasileira (PSDB).
The legislature lies with a 9-member city council, the vereadores of the Câmara Municipal, and in 2017 the presidency was with Paulo Chagas (PR).
The community forms a multiple district.

Source: IBGE (2018 figures are only estimates). In 2010, 26% of the population were children and adolescents up to the age of 15. In 2010, 83.25% lived in urban areas and 16.75% in extensive rural areas. In 2010, the illiteracy rate among adults over the age of 25 was 23.4%.
