The University of Modena and Reggio nell'Emilia ( Italian : Università degli Studi di Modena e Reggio nell'Emilia ; Latin : Universitas Studiorum Mutinensis et Regiensis ) - until 1998 only University of Modena - is one of the oldest universities in Italy . She's since 1998 together with the institutions in Reggio Emilia , a major research university with research contracts from over 300 companies in the region Emilia-Romagna . It was founded in 1175. In cooperation with the Accademia Militare di Modena , the university also takes on parts of the training of officer candidates .
