Damn yummy! Nachschlag für Adam Richman (original title: Man v. Food ) is a reality show produced by the US Travel Channel from 2008 to 2012 .

concept

American actor Adam Richman visits restaurants in various parts of the United States . Here he presents regional specialties and customs. Each episode ends with a challenge , an eating contest , in which Richman tries to enter himself into the record list of the respective restaurants, which he mostly succeeds in doing. Another recurring part of the program is a fictitious press conference by the moderator with employees and visitors to the restaurants.

Charisma

Man v. Food ran for four seasons and 85 episodes between December 3, 2008 and April 11, 2012 on Travel Channel. The series premiered on German-speaking television in November 2010 on DMAX .

Adam Richman announced on January 27, 2012 that he wanted to withdraw from the format, whereupon the production was stopped after four seasons.

The first broadcast of the show was the most successful series launch in the history of the Travel Channel.

Jonathan Bernstein of the British newspaper The Guardian had "mixed feelings" about the show, he praised the concept of the show and the presenter, but the fun stopped at the food challenge. ("Richman's power-eating gradually stops being fun"). Guardian critic Charlie Brooker put it similarly.

Jessica Chapman from CityPages Minneapolis / St. Paul referred to the show as a culinary version of Jackass .
