The Hartford Wolf Pack are an ice hockey team in the American Hockey League. They play in Hartford, Connecticut at the Hartford Civic Center.

History

The team was formed in 1997, after Hartford's only major-league sports team, the Hartford Whalers, moved to become the Carolina Hurricanes. The team had previously been known as the Binghamton Rangers, the Binghamton Whalers and the Providence Reds. The Pack's first game was October 4, 1997

Rival teams include: The Lowell Lock Monsters, the Springfield Falcons, the Bridgeport Sound Tigers, and the Providence Bruins.

Its best year was the 1999-00 season, when the team won the AHL championship, the Calder Cup.

The franchise was previously known as: Binghamton Rangers (1990-1997), Binghamton Whalers (1980-1990), Binghamton Dusters (1977-1980), Rhode Island Reds (1976-77 season), Providence Reds (1926-1976)
The market was previously served by: Hartford Whalers of the NHL (1979-1997)
