Auzon ( Occitan : Auson ) is a French municipality with 896 inhabitants (as of January 1 2017) in the department of Haute-Loire in the region Auvergne Rhône-Alpes . It is located in the Arrondissement of Brioude and in the Canton of Sainte-Florine (until 2015: Canton of Auzon ). The inhabitants are called Auzonnais or Alzoniens .
geography
Auzon is located about 48 kilometers south-southeast of Clermont-Ferrand on the Allier River and its right tributary Auzon . The Vendage river flows into the Allier from the left at the southwestern municipal boundary . Auzon is surrounded by the neighboring municipalities of Saint-Jean-Saint-Gervais in the north, Saint-Martin-d'Ollières in the north-east, Saint-Hilaire in the east, Azérat in the south and south-east, Vergongheon in the west and south-west and Vézézoux in the west and north-west.
