Benjamin Thomas (born September 12, 1995 in Lavaur , Tarn Department ) is a French cyclist who is mainly active on the track .
Athletic career
In 2013 Benjamin Thomas became Junior World Champion in points race in Glasgow . The following year he won the title of European Scratch Champion in the U23 class. At the national track championships of the elite, he finished second in this discipline. In October 2014 he became European championship points race in Guadeloupe .
In 2015, Thomas was successful at the European Track Championships: at the European Elite Championships he won silver in the points race and at the continental championships of the U23s, together with Thomas Boudat, silver in the two-man team . In 2016 he became European champion in team pursuit with Thomas Denis , Corentin Ermenault and Florian Maitre ) and two-time U23 vice-European champion , in team pursuit (with Thomas Denis, Corentin Ermenault and Florian Maître and in two-man team driving (with Maître). At the world championships he won silver with Morgan Kneisky in the two-man team driving .
In 2017 Benjamin Thomas was two-time world champion , in the Omnium and with Kneisky in two-team driving as well as two-time European champion in two- person team driving and in team pursuit. In 2019 he became vice world champion and European champion in the Omnium, and in 2020 world champion again . In 2019 he became French time trial champion on the road. He also achieved success in races in the Track Cycling World Cup .
