The DB Regio AG Region Southwest was a division of DB Regio AG , consisting of the previous operations by 1 January 2015 Southwest and Rhein Neckar originated. In the Baden-Wuerttemberg catchment area, the Regio Südwest division mainly used electric multiple units of the 425.0 and 425.2 series , in the Rhineland-Palatinate diesel networks mostly Bombardier Talent and Siemens Desiro Classic , in the Weinstraßen network and on the non-electrified Hessian routes since November 2015 After winning the tender, Diesel Network Southwest Lot 1, Alstom Coradia LINT  41 (9580 0623 001 to 014) and Alstom Coradia LINT 54 (9580 0622 021 to 044), the 628 series diesel multiple units previously used there , with which trips to BASF Ludwigshafen and some others have been carried out, with a 628.2 also being used with the 628 207. During rush hour, individual trains on the regional express lines RE 2 and RE 3 were driven by car trains consisting of cars with the code letter n , which were hauled by class 111 electric locomotives .

For Lot 1 of the Rhein-Neckar S-Bahn, 77 vehicles of the 425 series have been modernized since the end of 2015 , some of which are already back in operation.

The RE network Südwest , which went into operation in 2015 , was served under the name Süwex with the new Stadler Flirt 3 (9480 0429 100 to 127) in the customer design. It connects the Saarland with Kaiserslautern, Koblenz, Frankfurt, Mannheim and Karlsruhe. The series 425.0, 426, 628.4 and 642 were used in Saarland.

DB Regio Südwest also operated parts of the AVG Stadtbahn in cooperation with Albtal-Verkehrs-Gesellschaft , Verkehrsbetriebe Karlsruhe and Stadtwerke Heilbronn , for which it owned four GT8-100C / 2S .
