Edward W. Greenman
Edward Whitford Greenman (born January 26, 1840 in Berlin , New York , † August 3, 1908 in Troy , New York) was an American politician . Between 1887 and 1889 he represented New York State in the US House of Representatives .
Career
Edward Whitford Greenman was born about six years before the outbreak of the Mexican-American War in Berlin in Rensselaer County and grew up there. He attended community schools and the De Ruyter Academy in Alfred . Then he went about commercial business, but also worked as a manufacturer in Berlin. In 1866 he became a supervisor in Berlin - a position he held until 1868. He worked as a clerk in Rensselaer County between 1868 and 1871 . Then he was Deputy County Clerk for ten years . In 1874 he moved to Troy. Politically, he belonged to the Democratic Party .
In the 1886 congressional elections for the 50th Congress , Greenman was elected to the US House of Representatives in Washington, DC , in the 18th electoral district of New York , where he succeeded Henry G. Burleigh on March 4, 1887 . Since he on a run again in 1888 renounced, he left the after March 3, 1889 Congress of.
He was a cashier at the Central National Bank of Troy between 1888 and 1905 and the National City Bank of Troy between 1906 and 1908 . He died there on August 3, 1908 and was then buried in Oakwood Cemetery .
