Henry P. Alexander

Henry Porteous Alexander (born September 13, 1801 in Little Falls , Herkimer County , New York , † February 22, 1867 ibid) was an American politician ( Whig Party ).

Career

Henry Porteous Alexander attended public schools. He then went into trading and banking in Little Falls. In 1839 he became president of the Herkimer County Bank in Little Falls, a position he held until his death.

Alexander was the village chief of Little Falls in 1834 and 1835. He ran unsuccessfully in 1846 and 1850 for a seat in the US House of Representatives ( 30th and 31st US Congresses ), but was elected to the 31st US Congress . Alexander worked there between March 4, 1849 and March 3, 1851.
