Second version:
The Beatles' manager, Brian Epstein , was able to convince Mike Smith, an assistant in the A&R department at Decca Records , to attend the Beatles performance at the Cavern Club on December 13, 1961 . Smith was so impressed by this that he scheduled test recordings for January 1, 1962 at 11 a.m. The production management of the Decca Audition was Mike Smith in the Decca Studios , Broadhurst Gardens, London , there was only one take per song, it was recorded in mono . Overdubs were not produced and no mixing took place. So the Beatles played practically live - they recorded 15 songs within an hour. In addition to Hello Little Girl , the Lennon / McCartney compositions Like Dreamers Do and Love of the Loved were recorded. In early February 1962, the Beatles were rejected by Decca.
