Hey Bulldog ( English Hello Bulldog ) is a song by the British rock band The Beatles , which first appeared in 1969 on the soundtrack album Yellow Submarine of the film of the same name . Mostly written by John Lennon and published under the joint copyright of Lennon / McCartney .
When the Beatles recorded Hey Bulldog , they were filmed by a camera crew for a music video for Lady Madonna . During this recording, Paul McCartney barked suddenly and without warning, so the original line “Hey Bullfrog” was changed to “Hey Bulldog” in the middle of the song.
Hey Bulldog and George Harrison's It's All Too Much were written specifically for the film Yellow Submarine , for which existing or previously unreleased songs were used. There are cover versions , including Ween , Gomez , Rolf Harris , Toad the Wet Sprocket , Firewater , Skin Yard and Fanny
In 1999, Apple Records restored footage for a music video for Hey Bulldog .
