The municipality belongs to the Arrondissement Brioude and the canton Brioude (until 2015 Brioude-Nord ). The inhabitants are called the Lamothois .

geography

Lamothe is about 46 kilometers northwest of Le Puy-en-Velay on the Allier , which borders the municipality in the west. Lamothe is surrounded by the neighboring communities Azérat in the north and north-west, Agnat in the north and north-east, Chaniat in the east and south-east, Fontannes in the south, Brioude in the west and south-west and Cohade in the north-west.
