The list of cultural assets in Bern / Inner City (West) contains all objects in the western part of District I, the Inner City of Bern , which, according to the Hague Convention for the Protection of Cultural Property in the Event of Armed Conflicts , the federal law of June 20, 2014 on the Protection of cultural property in the event of armed conflict and the ordinance of October 29, 2014 on the protection of cultural property in the event of armed conflict .

Objects are recorded in the Yellow and Red Quarters (roughly corresponds to the area west of the Kornhausbrücke – Kirchenfeldbrücke line). Objects in categories A and B are completely included in the list, objects in category C are currently missing (as of January 1, 2018). Among other monuments objects are found that are "worthy of protection" listed in Bauinventar the city of Bern as well.

The seat of the government and parliament of the Swiss Confederation is a symmetrical building complex a little more than 300 meters long and is considered one of the most important historic buildings in the country. The first part was the “Bundeshaus West”, which was built from 1852 to 1857 under the direction of Jakob Friedrich Studer . From 1884 to 1892, the "Bundeshaus Ost", planned by Hans Wilhelm Auer, followed . The fountain figure is a frightening child leaning on a pedestal , just devouring a naked child; There are other children in a sack hanging around the neck. The fountain sculpture stands on a Corinthian column hung with garlands .

Fountain created by Hans Gieng in 1545/46 . Originally the column shaft, the capital and the fountain figure, while the basin was replaced in 1889. When the Spitalgasse was paved, the fountain was moved slightly to the east. The fountain figure is closely based on the “ bagpiper ” by Albrecht Dürer from 1514 and is reminiscent of the former Gasthaus zum Kreuz, which was once the place to stay for traveling minstrels.

The Kleine Schanze is the southwestern end of the city fortifications. In 1817/18 Rudolf von Luternau converted the remains of the demolished Wächter bastion into a promenade based on the English model (rebuilt in 1873/74). There is a bandstand and several monuments on the promenade .

Monument created in 1909 by René de Saint-Marceaux to commemorate the founding of the Universal Postal Union in Bern. The sculpture stands behind a wide fountain basin on an artificial rock formation. On the highest point of the rock there is a pillar of cloud, which is supposed to symbolize the majestic sublimity of the Bernese Alps and which apparently wants to escape into space. This pillar of cloud carries a globe around which five female figures embodying the continents hover and hand each other letters.
