The list of cultural assets in Bern / Inner City (West) contains all objects in the western part of District I, the Inner City of Bern , which, according to the Hague Convention for the Protection of Cultural Property in the Event of Armed Conflicts , the federal law of June 20, 2014 on the Protection of cultural property in the event of armed conflict and the ordinance of October 29, 2014 on the protection of cultural property in the event of armed conflict .
Objects are recorded in the Yellow and Red Quarters (roughly corresponds to the area west of the Kornhausbrücke – Kirchenfeldbrücke line). Objects in categories A and B are completely included in the list, objects in category C are currently missing (as of January 1, 2018). Among other monuments objects are found that are "worthy of protection" listed in Bauinventar the city of Bern as well.

1545/46 to replace a system from the 14th century, moved a few meters to the east in 1786 and 1824. The fountain figure from Hans Gieng's workshop depicts a woman holding a bowl in one hand and pouring water into it from a jug with the other. Originally called "Kefibrunnen" and later "Temperentiabrunnen", the reference to Anna Seiler did not gain acceptance until the middle of the 19th century.

The seat of the government and parliament of the Swiss Confederation is a symmetrical building complex a little more than 300 meters long and is considered one of the most important historic buildings in the country. The first part was the “Bundeshaus West”, which was built from 1852 to 1857 under the direction of Jakob Friedrich Studer . From 1884 to 1892, the "Bundeshaus Ost", planned by Hans Wilhelm Auer, followed . Finally, he designed the parliament building in between, which was completed in 1902 after eight years of construction.

One of the most important representative buildings of the city and republic of Bern of the 18th century. The complex surrounds a central courtyard, to the north of which there is a sickle-shaped annex building with a chapel.

Originally the gate tower of the second fastening belt from around 1256, rebuilt in its present form between 1641 and 1644. With the new building, the military aspect no longer played a role, instead, above all, an urban development measure was to be used as a sign of rule. Erected in 1545 by Hans Gieng in place of a wooden fountain from the 15th century, slightly moved in 1997. The fountain originally called "Platzbrunnen" was first documented in 1666 as a Kindlifresserbrunnen. The fountain figure is a frightening child leaning on a pedestal , just devouring a naked child; There are other children in a sack hanging around the neck. The fountain sculpture stands on a Corinthian column hung with garlands .

Fountain created by Hans Gieng in 1545/46 . Originally the column shaft, the capital and the fountain figure, while the basin was replaced in 1889. When the Spitalgasse was paved, the fountain was moved slightly to the east. The fountain figure is closely based on the “ bagpiper ” by Albrecht Dürer from 1514 and is reminiscent of the former Gasthaus zum Kreuz, which was once the place to stay for traveling minstrels.

Between 1736 and 1740 Abraham Wild built two architecturally particularly valuable old town houses in the late Baroque style, which at the same time represent the first representatives of apartment building in Bern. They both stand at the Von-Werdt-Passage, built in 1905 according to plans by Albert Gerster , which is considered the oldest, most important and qualitatively outstanding representative of the Berner Passagen. The light-flooded room is roofed over by a steel and glass construction adorned with Art Nouveau ornaments.

Built in 1913/14 by Otto Ingold, the building initially served as a people's house and later as a cinema ; it has been a hotel since the renovation from 1981–1983. Its outstanding feature is the monumental four-storey and nine axes extensive Art Nouveau façade , by a giant order of formally simplified ionic is divided half-columns and a strongly projecting cornice. An attic storey with a raised center emphasizes the central part even more clearly.

The Kleine Schanze is the southwestern end of the city fortifications. In 1817/18 Rudolf von Luternau converted the remains of the demolished Wächter bastion into a promenade based on the English model (rebuilt in 1873/74). There is a bandstand and several monuments on the promenade .

Monument created in 1909 by René de Saint-Marceaux to commemorate the founding of the Universal Postal Union in Bern. The sculpture stands behind a wide fountain basin on an artificial rock formation. On the highest point of the rock there is a pillar of cloud, which is supposed to symbolize the majestic sublimity of the Bernese Alps and which apparently wants to escape into space. This pillar of cloud carries a globe around which five female figures embodying the continents hover and hand each other letters. |
