Marshall County is a county in the state of South Dakota in the United States . The county seat is in Britton .
geography
The county covers an area of 2,294 square kilometers; 124 square kilometers (5.41 percent) of this is water. It is divided into 25 townships : Buffalo, Dayton, Dumarce, Eden, Fort, Hamilton, Hickman, La Belle, Lake, Lowell, McKinley, Miller, Newark, Newport, Nordland, Pleasant Valley, Red Iron Lake, Sisseton, Stena, Veblen , Victor, Waverly, Weston, White and Wismer.
history
The county was founded on March 10, 1885 and named after Marshall Vincent, the chief clerk of Day County from which Marshall County was formed.
Six buildings and sites in the county are listed on the National Register of Historic Places (NRHP) (as of August 6, 2018).
