Michael Benthin

Michael Benthin (born February 7, 1958 in Hamburg ) is a German actor .

Life

Michael Benthin completed an acting degree at the University of Music and Theater in Hanover . After completing his studies, he was initially a member of the ensemble at the Karlsruhe State Theater and moved to the Kassel State Theater via Freiburg, Zurich and Tübingen . From 1990 he worked increasingly for film and television with regular theater engagements in Hanover, Weimar and Hamburg at the Thalia Theater (Hamburg) and at the Deutsches Schauspielhaus .

In addition to regular engagements under the director Hartmut Wickert, Michael Benthin has worked continuously with Michael Thalheimer since 2000 . He received invitations to the Berlin Theatertreffen 2001, 2003, 2005, 2007, 2008 and 2013 .

In 2006 he moved to the Deutsches Theater in Berlin , where he took on the first role of Aigisthos in the Oresty of Aeschylus , directed by Michael Thalheimer. In 2007 this production was invited to the Berlin Theatertreffen. In the 2007/2008 season Michael Benthin was seen in another award-winning production of the Deutsches Theater: In Gerhart Hauptmann's Die Ratten as Quaquaro , again directed by Michael Thalheimer. This production was awarded the Nestroy Theater Prize in 2008 and invited to the 2008 Theatertreffen Berlin. He also played Malvolio in What you want , also directed by Michael Thalheimer. At the Deutsches Theater Berlin there was further work with Jürgen Gosch , Hanna Rudolph and Viktor Bodó . Since then he has worked regularly with Andreas Kriegenburg and Jorinde Dröse .

In addition to his theater work, he has been involved in over 60 film and television productions since the mid-1980s.
