history

The place was first mentioned in documents in 1364. From 1548 to 1607, Nodrag Fortress had several owners. The Germans, who settled here at the beginning of the 19th century, named the place of rocky ground because of Steinacker .

In 1845 the Viennese company "Rimmer & Morani" founded an ironworks. In Nădrag the “Vesta” stoves and cookers were made, as well as stovepipes and zinc buckets. The Nădrag rolling mill produced thin sheet metal. There was also a foundry until 1926. There, among other things, the hotplates were poured. Large and small kettles were also made in Nădrag.

From 1880 to 1923 the company "Ciocanul" was the largest industrial company in Nădrag. From 1926, the ironworks made a name for itself in the industry of the region and Romania as "Uzinele Titan - Nădrag - Călan".

The first school in Nădrag was founded in 1852. The languages of instruction were German and Hungarian. In 1919 the first Romanian school with a German department was founded. The general education lyceum "Traian Grozăvescu" was founded in 1972 and in 1972 it was converted into an industrial lyceum.

The youth hostel for needy children in the Timis district is closely associated with the name Nădrag. Every year around 250 schoolchildren spend their summer holidays at the Nădrag holiday camp from mid-June to mid-September.
