Natalja Michailowna Wodjanowa ( Russian: Наталья Михайловна Водя́нова ; also Natalia Vodianova; born February 28, 1982 in Gorki , Russian SFSR , USSR ) is a Russian photo model .

Life

Vodyanova grew up in poor conditions with her single mother. She worked in her mother's shop from an early age. When she was 15, she moved into her own apartment with a friend. The girls earned their living by running their own fruit stand.

Career

At 15, Vodyanova began to apply to various modeling agencies. To improve her career prospects, she learned English within three months and moved to Paris , where she signed a contract with Viva Models when she was 17 . Shortly thereafter, she received a contract for the Gucci perfume line . After many catwalk jobs, she also played in smaller film productions.

Meanwhile, Vodyanova has worked for many well-known brands and designers. Among other things, she was the face of Calvin Klein from 2003 to 2007 and in 2008 the face of the Diane von Fürstenberg collection and a Louis Vuitton campaign. She also modeled for the Chanel make-up collection in spring 2008 and in autumn / winter 2008 for Versace . In spring 2009, Wodjanowa designed his own collection at Etam. Wodjanowa is married and has five children; three (* 2001, * 2006, * 2007) with the English aristocrat Justin Portman (son of Edward Portman, 9th Viscount Portman (1934–1999) ) and two (* 2014, * 2016) with the French entrepreneur Antoine Arnault (son by Bernard Arnault of the luxury company LVMH ).

Vodyanova is a committed philanthropist , for which she was recognized by the American magazine Vogue in March 2007 .

In 2005 she founded after the Beslan hostage crises led by her foundation Naked Heart Foundation , which among other charity events organized and financed by donations playgrounds and recreational facilities for children in Russia.
