The men's 10 km sprint race in biathlon at the 2014 Winter Olympics took place on February 8, 2014 at 6:30 p.m. in the Laura biathlon and cross-country skiing center . Olympic champion was Ole Einar Bjørndalen from Norway, while Austrian Dominik Landertinger won the silver medal . Bronze went to the Czech Jaroslav Soukup .

Competition description

The sprint was the individual discipline with the shortest running route in the men's category. The total of 10 km was spread over three laps of equal length, after the first and second laps the athletes had to hit five targets at the shooting range. The first time they had to shoot in a lying position, the second time in a standing position. For each target not hit, the athlete had to complete a 150-meter penalty loop. The athletes started the race at an interval of 30 seconds (sometimes 15 seconds). The winner was whoever had the fastest overall time at the finish. The top 60 athletes of the sprint qualified to take part in the pursuit race .

Total ascent: 381 m, maximum ascent: 28 m, difference in altitude: 57 m
87 participants from 31 countries, 86 of them in the rating.
