Peter Rowe (born March 10, 1807 in Crescent , New York , † April 17, 1876 in Schenectady , New York) was an American lawyer and politician . Between 1853 and 1855 he represented the state of New York in the US House of Representatives .

Career

Peter Rowe was born in Crescent, Saratoga County , about five years before the outbreak of the British-American War . He completed his undergraduate studies and then graduated from Schenectady Academy . Then he went about commercial business. He worked as the chief auditor on the New York Central Railroad . Between 1846 and 1850 he was mayor of Schenectady. Politically, he belonged to the Democratic Party .

In the congressional election of 1852 for the 33rd Congress , Rowe was elected to the US House of Representatives in Washington, DC , in the 18th electoral district of New York , where he succeeded Preston King on March 4, 1853 . He retired from the after March 3, 1855 Congress of.

He died on April 17, 1876 in Schenectady and was then buried in Vale Cemetery .
