Schönenberg (Lohmar)

Schönenberg is a hamlet that belongs to the town of Lohmar in the Rhein-Sieg district in North Rhine-Westphalia .

geography

Schönenberg is located in the middle of the north of Lohmar. Surrounding villages and hamlets are Auelchen and Neuhonrath in the north, Höffen , Heide and Klefhaus in the east to the south-east, Katharinenbach , Hohn , Kattwinkel and Münchhof in the south, Emmersbach in the south-west and Wahlscheid in the west.

The Nurschsiefen, an orographically left tributary of the Maarbach, flows north of Schönenberg . The Katharinenbach, a right tributary of the Hohner Bach, rises to the southwest of Schönenberg .

To the north of Schönenberg there is a large forest in the direction of Neuhonrath. A forest area also extends to the south-east. There are large meadows around Schönenberg that are used for agriculture.

history

In 1885 Schönenberg had 55 inhabitants who lived in twelve houses.

Until 1969 Schönenberg belonged to the previously independent municipality of Wahlscheid .
