Valois-Alencon

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Valois-Alençon , also known as the House of France-Alençon, was a branch line of the House of Valois . It lasted from 1326, the year when the title of Count of Alençon and Chartres was bestowed, until 1562, when the last member of the family died. The Count of Alençon was made Duke in 1415. After the death of the widow of the third and final duke, Alençon reverted to the crown.
