Pont-Saint-Pierre is a French commune with 1,151 inhabitants (at January 1, 2017) in the Eure in the region of Normandy . It belongs to the arrondissement of Les Andelys and the canton of Romilly-sur-Andelle . The place is on the banks of the Andelle River .
history
Saint-Nicolas-de-Pont-Saint-Pierre was the capital of a canton from 1790 to 1801. In 1809 Saint-Pierre-de-Pont-Saint-Pierre was incorporated. In 1905 the municipality changed its name from Saint-Nicolas-de-Pont-Saint-Pierre to Pont-Saint-Pierre .
In the valley of the Andelle is the Fontaine-Guérard spinning mill , whose construction is influenced by Gothic architecture . It was built in the 19th century and shortly afterwards destroyed in a fire.
