Neaufles-Saint-Martin is a French municipality with 1294 inhabitants (at January 1, 2017) in the Eure in the region of Normandy . It belongs to the arrondissement of Les Andelys and the canton of Gisors .

History and sights

In the municipality is the medieval Tour de la Reine Blanche , whose name goes back to the French Queen Blanka of Navarre , who after her short marriage to King Philip VI. moved here and died here in 1398. However, the donjon was built in the 12th century. The ramparts that used to surround it are easy to see on aerial photographs .

According to legend, Neaufles is connected to the Knights Templar Castle of Gisors by an underground passage .

A “pierced” cross , which is privately owned, was erected in the second half of the 12th century. It was entered in the supplementary directory of the Monuments historiques ('historical monuments') in 1926 .
