history
Over the centuries different spellings of the place name appeared: 1369 Vermispatakfő , 1389 Wermespataka , 1405 and 1717 Wermes , 1913 Krassóvermes , 1919 Vermeṣ .
The first documentary mention comes from the year 1369, when the landlord Baron Vermesy settled serfs from Transylvania and Hungary here. In 1389 the village, which now bore the name Vermispatakfő after Baron Vermesy, became the property of the Hungarian noble family Himfy, who had their seat in Ersig . In 1650 the village belonged to the Lugoj district .
Wermes is entered on the Josephine land survey of 1717 . After the Peace of Passarowitz (1718) the village was part of the Habsburg crown domain Temescher Banat . During the reign of Empress Maria Theresa , the village was systematized.
The Treaty of Trianon on June 4, 1920 resulted in the Banat being divided into three parts , whereby Verme fell to the Kingdom of Romania .
