Wilhelm Exner Medal
The Wilhelm Exner Medal is an Austrian award and is awarded by the Wilhelm Exner Foundation of the Austrian Trade Association. The award is dedicated to Wilhelm Exner on the occasion of his 60-year membership in the trade association, of which he was honorary president at the time, and has been awarded annually since 1921.
The medal is awarded to outstanding scientists and researchers who have directly or indirectly promoted the economy in an outstanding manner through special scientific achievements. The award does not come with any prize money, but the winners are invited to lunch with the Austrian Federal President.
The Wilhelm Exner Medal Foundation , which decides on the awards, is headed by a managing director who is elected every three years and, if possible, is the holder of the medal himself.
Appearance
The bronze medal has a diameter of 7.5 cm. On the front it bears a picture and Wilhelm Exner's name. The name of the award winner and the year of the award, as well as the inscription "Wilhelm Exner Medal of the Austrian Trade Association in Vienna" are embossed on the back.
