Season course

The championship and thus participation in the promotion round secured the SV Friedrichsort. Heider SV was also allowed to take part in second place. Heide achieved promotion to the Regionalliga Nord. Since no team from the Regionalliga Nord was relegated, there were only two relegated teams from the amateur league. Since the last three teams were tied, playoffs were scheduled. Police SV Kiel prevailed against TSV Kücknitz, before Police SV Kiel was defeated by MTV Heide. Heide thereby secured himself to remain in the class. Police SV Kiel had to join the newly founded association league after two seasons, TSV Kücknitz after a year.

VfB Kiel qualified third for the German amateur championship in 1968 . There he prevailed against Sportfreunde 05 Saarbrücken and was eliminated in the quarter-finals against Hammer SpVg .
