history

The place was first mentioned in 1109 as “Richenbach”. The place name is derived from an identical water body name, the defining word of which is the Middle High German word rîche (= rich). It should be used to describe the abundance of fish in the stream. From the basic word –bach it can be concluded that this area was not settled before the 10th century, since up to then waters were referred to as –aha . In 1501 the form "Obernreichenpach" is attested for the first time. The suffix Ober- serves to distinguish the nearby Unterreichenbach .

The place was originally the allod of Count Bergtheim. In 1136, Count Berthold II von Bergtheim donated goods from the village to the Allod to Michelsberg Monastery . In 1251 the monastery no longer seems to have this property. Basic Stately claims also had the monastery Münchaurach .

At the end of the 18th century there were 20 properties in Oberreichenbach. The high court exercised the Brandenburg-Bayreuth Fraischvogteiamt Emskirchen-Hagenbüchach . The landlords were Brandenburg-Bayreuth ( Monastery Office Münchaurach : 1 inn, 3 estates, 2 estates; Vogtamt Hagenbüchach : 2 half yards, 1 estate), the Hochstift Bamberg ( Amt Herzogenaurach : 1 yard, 2 estates, 1 house), the manor Neuhaus : 5 Güter and the imperial city of Nuremberg ( Spitalamt : 2 Gütlein). The village and community rulership was alternately inherited from the landlords.

In 1810 Oberreichenbach came to the new Kingdom of Bavaria . As part of the municipal edict, the Oberreichenbach tax district was formed in 1811 , to which Buch , Trabelshof and Unterreichenbach belonged. In 1813 the rural community of Oberreichenbach was formed, which was congruent with the tax district. With the second community edict (1818), the rural community of Oberreichenbach was split up:

  • Rural community of Oberreichenbach
  • Rural community Unterreichenbach with book
  • Trabelshof to the rural community Ebersbach

The municipality of Oberreichenbach was under the administration and jurisdiction of the Markt Erlbach district court and the tax office of Neustadt an der Aisch in the financial administration . In voluntary jurisdiction, 10 properties were subordinate to the Neuhaus Patrimonial Court until 1848 . On April 1, 1836, the community was assigned to the Herzogenaurach Regional Court , and finally to the Herzogenaurach Rent Office on October 1, 1847 . From 1862 Oberreichenbach was administered by the district office of Höchstadt an der Aisch (renamed the district of Höchstadt an der Aisch in 1938 ) and continued to be administered by the Rent Office Herzogenaurach (1920–1929: Finanzamt Herzogenaurach , from 1929: Finanzamt Erlangen ). The jurisdiction remained with the district court of Herzogenaurach until 1879, 1880–1959 district court of Herzogenaurach , from 1959 district court of Erlangen .

badges and flags

The municipality of Oberreichenbach has had a coat of arms since 1985.

Coat of arms of Oberreichenbach
Blazon : "Above a shield base , quartered by silver and black, split by red and gold, in front the torso of a left-facing silver hind pierced by a golden arrow, behind a red armored black lion covered by a silver sloping bar."

White and black municipal flag

Justification of the coat of arms: The Hind is the attribute of Saint Aegidius , who has been a local and church patron in Oberreichenbach since the 16th century. Oberreichenbach was under two dominions, the Margraves of Brandenburg-Bayreuth and the Bamberg Monastery . This is indicated by the silver and black Zollernvierung in the shield base and the Bamberg lion from the Hochstift coat of arms .
