Economy and Infrastructure
Pervomaiski is a mining town. Ores are mined in open-cast mines directly north of the settlement and processed on site in the Transbaikal Mining and Enrichment Combine (Sabaikalski GOK) into fluorspar , beryllium , lithium and tantalum concentrates , with zeolites and gold being produced as by-products . There are also companies in the construction and food industries.
About six kilometers to the northwest, in a neighboring valley, lies the regionally important balneological spa town of Schiwanda , which was established in 1899 .
The Solnzewaja station of the Trans-Siberian Railway (km 6407 from Moscow ) is about ten kilometers north of Pervomaiski on the far left bank of the Ingoda. Station and location are connected by a road, part of the regional road R426 from Mogoitui (on the A166 Chita- Sabaikalsk / Chinese border) via Shilka and Nerchinsk to Sretensk .
A previously existing small airport has been out of service since the early 1990s.
