Porspoder is a French commune with 1,810 inhabitants (at January 1, 2017) in the department of Finistère in the region of Brittany ; it belongs to the arrondissement of Brest and the canton of Saint-Renan .

history

The municipality originally belonged to the area of ​​Nieder-Leon (French Bas-Léon, Bret. Goueled-Leon) in northwest Brittany, later to the rule of Brest and Saint-Renan. In 1790 it became an independent political municipality. From 1793 to 1801 it belonged to the canton of Brélès and since then to the canton of Ploudalmézeau. The former municipality of Larret has been part of Porspoder since 1971.
