Mairie Loperhet

Loperhet ( Breton Loperc'hed ) is a French municipality with 3760 inhabitants (at January 1, 2017) in the department of Finistère in the region of Brittany . It belongs to the community association Communauté de communes du Pays de Landerneau-Daoulas .

geography

Loperhet is located about 12 kilometers south-east of Brest near the Bay of Brest on the E 60 expressway.

history

The name Loperhet comes from Loc , consecrated place, and Sainte Berc'het , Brigida of Kildare . Other names for Loperhet were: Ecclesia Loco Sanctae Brigidae (1218), Loperchet (1442), Loperguet (1535) and Locus Brigide (1574).

Loperhet housed a priory of the Abbaye de Daoulas ( Daoulas Abbey). In the 12th and 13th centuries there was a hospice and a chapel that belonged to a pilgrimage site.

Attractions

Church of Sainte-Brigitte

In the church of Sainte-Brigitte, built in 1896, there is a silver chalice from the end of the 16th century. Classified as a Monument historique in 1955 . The church replaced an older church from the 17th century, which in turn replaced the oldest church, which was mentioned in 1218 as Ecclesia Loco Sanctae Brigidae . Today's church bell was cast in 1661, the entrance to the church bears the year 1645.

There are two barrows from the Bronze Age in Loperhet , both of which are privately owned. The barrow in the Roc 'hellou district was classified as a Monument historique (MH) in 1930. The barrow in the hamlet of Gorré Menez was entered in the supplementary directory of the Monuments historiques in 1971 ( inscrit MH ).
