The place is about ten kilometers south of the Atlantic coast at the entrance of the English Channel . The city and port of Brest is 19 kilometers south and Paris around 500 kilometers east (as the crow flies ).

Brest train station is the terminus of the regional train lines to Rennes and Nantes and the TGV Atlantique to Paris.
