Guilers ( Breton Gwiler-Leon ) is a French commune in the Finistère department in Brittany with 7,981 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017). It belongs to the Arrondissement of Brest , the canton of Brest-4 and the Brest Métropole municipal association .
geography
The municipality is located in the west of Brittany in the greater area of the city of Brest . Both the city center of Brest and the Rade de Brest are only a few kilometers southeast, the Atlantic coast at the beginning of the English Channel about 18 kilometers north.
The townscape is characterized by predominantly single-family houses, which reflect the sudden increase in the number of inhabitants in the second half of the 20th century (in 1968 Guilers had only 1,879 inhabitants). According to the Base Mérimée of the Ministry of Culture, there are no culturally and historically significant objects in the place.

Transport links
The closest exits to the motorway-like expressways E 50 ( Rennes -Brest) and E 60 ( Nantes -Brest) are only a few kilometers west of the municipality on the northeastern outskirts of Brest, where they meet. From here the route départementale D5 leads to Plouarzel near the west coast, whereby it touches Guilers immediately to the south-west and is developed here as a four-lane bypass.
The train station in Brest is a TGV Atlantique station and regional train station in the TER Bretagne network .
The Brest airport is located about ten kilometers west.
